The Hamilton Beach 33967 Set ‘n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker is currently on sale for just $37.99, regularly $59.99! This is the exact slow cooker I have. I spent a long time researching slow cookers and Hamilton Beach was the only brand that states their crock was led free. I love this model for many reasons.
Pros:
- It’s big. It’s large enough to cook a meal plus leftovers for my big family.
- The lid locks on. You don’t have to worry about spills in the car when you take your meal with you to a pot luck.
- It’s programmable. You can program it to cook for a certain amount of time. When it’s finished it switches to warm mode until you are ready to eat.
Cons:
- It’s digital. This means if the electricity goes out for a moment or two, it won’t turn itself back on. It would be extremely disappointing to come home from a work to a half cooked meal.
- It cooks hotter than my old crockpot. I don’t know if this is really a con, but things tend to boil in this model and they didn’t in my old crockpot.
What do I cook in my slow cooker?

- Slow Cooker Chinese Orange Chicken
- Mojo Chicken in the CrockPot
- Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken in the CrockPot Recipe

Thanks Passionate Penny Pincher!
I think the newer crock pots do run hotter — and I don’t like that either.
I recently bought a new crock pot too and mine is very similar. Many of the reviews on Amazon said the same thing about it running hotter.
The first thing I noticed is that the removable crock isnt as thick as my old one was, so I just saved my old one and plan to use it if I need a slower working crock pot. It fits just fine, so it’ll be ok.
Just thought I’d share that with you.
That’s a great idea Kim! Thanks for sharing it.
